| About SAM's Kids
Proceeds of this event will benefit SAM's Kids, a local non-profit
organization that is raising money to provide necessary services
to at-risk and in-need children and families in Frederick County.
Children who would benefit most from our services are those that
have been diagnosed with disorders such as ADHD, Oppostional Defiance
Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder, Depression, and Reactive Attachment
Disorder.
We serve children ranging from 5 - 18 years of age. SAM’s
is an acronym that explains our philosophy of life and what we strive
to instill in the children and families who are part of our program
and also in our staff: (S)elf-Discipline, (A)ccountability,
and (M)orality.
Our programming is based upon cognitive/behavioral principles.
We work to help our clients identify their anti-social thinking
patterns. We then help them replace these with more positive methods
of thinking which results in more pro-social behavior and an increased
ability to handle adversity. We work to empower our clients to overcome
their conditions rather that allowing them to be “victims”
of their disorders. This gives them the ability to succeed in any
situation or environment rather than just the ones that have been
manipulated to accommodate their disorders. Some of the disorders
that our programming has been highly successful with include ADHD,
Bi-Polar, Depressive Disorders, Oppositional-Defiance Disorder and
others.
We will offer a single point of entry continuum of services that
can provide a seamless array of services to the children of Frederick
County.
